Construction on new ADA sidewalks along Avery Street, from 7th street to 13th Street, is slated to begin on Monday September 10, 2018. Improvements include the installation of new sidewalks, curb cuts, truncated domes, LED street lights and a new curb extension (bulb-out) feature at 10th and Avery. The bulb-out is designed to encourage slower turning speeds in the bend of the road and buffer pedestrians that use Quincy Hill steps for exercise or outdoor recreation. Work will start each day no earlier than 7:00AM and finish by 6:00PM in accordance with City Ordinance 0-621.

Funding for this project is made possible by the a MAP 21 (Moving Ahead for Progress in the 21st Century) Enhancement Grant, which is administered by the West Virginia Department of Transportation – Division of Highways.
