Gas Leak near Erickson Field

There is a gas leak in the area of Erickson Field 300 Erickson Blvd.  Gas Fumes are traveling West along the base of the river. Everyone is to take proper precautions.  Gas Company Personnel are on site working to remediate.  Parkersburg Fire Dept. Personnel are are also on scene for safety.

Thanksgiving Observed

The City of Parkersburg will observe Thanksgiving on Thursday, November 28 and Friday, November 29. The city building will close at 4:30 PM on Wednesday, November 27 and will reopen for normal business at 8:00 AM on Monday, December 2, 2019.

The Sanitation Department will be one day behind schedule with no pickups on Thursday, November 28.  Collections will run on Friday, November 29 and Saturday, November 30, 2019.

Construction to Start on JULEPS Accessible Playground Expansion Project

Construction on the expansion of the JULEPS Playground is slated to begin on Thursday, October 24, 2019.  Improvements include the installation of 3,600 square feet of synthetic turf and accessible playground designed for children of all abilities between the ages of 5 and 12.  Once completed, this playground will provide playground access to over 100 children. Work will start each day no earlier than 7:00AM and finish by 6:00PM in accordance with City Ordinance 0-621. Work is anticipated to be completed by November 30, 2019 (pending weather-related delays).

Funding for this project is made possible in part by The National Park Service, Land & Water Conservation Fund (LWCF) and the City of Parkersburg.

A special thanks to the Junior League of Parkersburg for initiating the JULEPS Playground Phase 1. The Junior League was responsible for the first inclusive playground in Parkersburg and the City is proud to advance its original vision.

Power out at City Building

The Parkersburg City Building is without normal power at this time. With a limited emergency power infrastructure, city operations will be restricted until full power is restored. Access to records and files is extremely limited at this time. Mon Power is currently working to remedy the outage.

Cypress St. from 36th to 42nd St. will be closed to through traffic for Storm Sewer Repairs starting today and continuing for approximately 2-3 weeks.  The route will remain open for local traffic only and Detour signs will be in place.
