CITY OF PARKERSBURG
Municipal Court / Parking Clerk
DEPARTMENT: Police DIVISION: Municipal Court/Parking GRADE: H-7 Non-Exempt $13.55/hr
Reports directly to the Municipal Court/Parking Supervisor.
JOB SUMMARY: Provides administrative and clerical support to the City’s Municipal Court & Parking Departments.
RESPONSIBILITIES, DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Prepare the court docket weekly.
- Record transactions of the Court and parking daily.
- Maintain case records, fines and court cost records.
- Collect and account for monies received by the court and parking department (Municipal Court tickets, court fees, etc., and parking rentals and tickets).
- Post receipts.
- Prepare & process abstracts, subpoenas and warrants.
- Provide municipal background checks.
- Attend municipal court sessions in the absence of the Municipal Court/Parking Supervisor.
- Provide information on Court policies and procedures according to City and State codes.
- Monthly parking rental billing.
- Monthly billing and collections of delinquent parking tickets.
- Schedule conference rooms and prepare weekly schedule.
- Answer phones (Court, Parking, City Clerk and City main number), assist callers and redirect calls as needed.
- Works with local and state government agencies related to suspensions and garnishments of WV State income tax.
- Handles sensitive financial and personal information.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
Graduation from high school or GED, supplemented by courses at a community and/or technical college in office administration or related field; two (2) years’ any equivalent combination of experience and training.
Above average computer skills (Microsoft Office – Work & Excel). Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written. Excellent organizational skills. Must be able to maintain confidentiality.
Must be able to interact professionally with the public.
