A public forum will be held on Tuesday, May 16, 2023, at 6:00 PM at the City Park Pavilion to discuss plans regarding the Parkersburg Activity and Recreation Center (PARC). Additionally, the meeting will be streamed live, to provide additional residents with an opportunity to engage in the process if unable to attend in person.
This forum will provide an opportunity for members of the public to learn more about the PARC vision and share their thoughts, ideas, concerns, and engage in general discussion about the concept and proposal in a civil and respectful manner.
The PARC project seeks to provide significant investment in a public space to deliver a high-quality and versatile activity space for the community and provide an enhanced location for recreational pursuits & gatherings of all sorts.

During the meeting, facilitators will provide an overview of the PARC project, including potential programming within the facility, site location considerations, building design, park and community safety, and the economic impact potential associated with the proposed development.

I am a lifelong resident of Parkersburg/Wood County and personally think that a center like the one proposed here is long past due. Why an area and population like Parkersburg/Wood county and surrounding counties in West Virginia and Ohio does not offer a venue like this for many different possibilities and activities is beyond me! As a tax paying citizen of Parkersburg/Wood County, I vote and support a center located in Parkersburg. The sooner the better.
Other cities and towns in West Virginia with smaller populations offer community/civic centers and Parkersburg needs to step up and join the party if this area is going to grow, prosper and attract additional population.
